Product Description

Pyramid-Shaped Tree with Knockout Color

The Green Gable Tupelo, also known as the Black Gum Tree, offers year-round vibrant color and a naturally triangular shape. These features make this tree an ideal centerpiece for your front or back yard that you and your family will appreciate for years to come!

The Black Gum Tree is known for its dramatic year-round color. In spring and summer, the tree sprouts shiny green leaves in a natural tulip shape. In autumn, the tree becomes even more of a standout - its leaves turn an eye-catching orangish-red.

This large tree is ideal for adding shade to your outdoor space with little maintenance. Whether you live in a snowy climate or an arid location, the Black Gum Tree will thrive. What’s more, this variety can live up to 250 years for generations of long-lasting landscape beauty - and it's resistant to leaf spot!

To give your landscape a rewarding upgrade and non-stop color, choose the Black Gum Tree. Order yours today!

Planting & Care

1. Planting: The Green Gable will need a lot of sunshine to develop a solid root system, so find a place in your yard that gets plenty of sun. You may need to stake up small, young trees if you live in a very windy area. And the Green Gable loves moisture, but prefers well-drained soil.

When you're ready to plant, dig a hole large enough to accommodate the tree's root ball, place your tree, backfill the soil and water to settle the roots. You can add mulch around the base of the tree for better water retention.

2. Watering: During the first few weeks, water your tree twice a week for 45 minutes. After that you can stick to only watering during dry spells using the same method of deeply watering for 45 minutes or using drip irrigation for 90 minutes.

3. Fertilizing: You don’t need to fertilize your tree, but as it matures, you may want to increase its growth and production. If you do, add a slow-release formula around the base of the tree.

4. Pruning: You can prune your tree in the winter if you like. Removing the lower branches will make it easier to stand under the tree for shade in the summer.
