Dapple Dandy Pluot Tree Prunus 'Dapple Dandy'

Product Description

A Spicy-Sweet Combination

Looking for a truly one-of-a-kind fruit tree? You're in the right place! Created by combining the plum and apricot, the Dapple Dandy Pluot delivers a luscious, juicy fruit that once you try, you won’t be able to live without.

Dapple Dandy has an incredibly unique appearance, with smooth red skin with hints of green and yellow - in fact, it's also known as the “Dinosaur Egg” Pluot! But the real beauty of this fruit is just below its smooth, pale skin. The flesh of the Pluot is a creamy pink, with a spicy, plum-apricot flavor and the perfect sugar to acid ratio.

If you want the best of both fruits, without a ton of work, the Dapple Dandy Pluot Tree will be the perfect addition to your orchard, large or small. Growing to an average height of 12-15 feet, it’s small stature and low maintenance make it one of the easiest trees to grow. The Dapple Dandy Pluot Tree can be pollinated by other Pluot or Plum varieties and will typically produce fruit within just a few years of planting.

These sweet, unique trees won’t last for long. Be sure to get your Dapple Dandy Pluot Tree now!

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant your Pluot in well-draining soil and in an area with 6 to 8 hours of sunlight per day, in proximity to another early-blooming plum tree for pollination.

Dig a hole that is twice as wide but just as deep as the root ball. Place your tree, backfill your soil and water to settle the roots. Mulch the surrounding soil to conserve moisture.

2. Watering: Be sure to water the just-planted tree well during its first two years with deep regular watering, but not completely soggy soil. Once established, the tree needs less watering but still requires deep watering during low-rainfall periods.

3. Fertilizing: Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer (such as 10-10-10) in the spring and fall. To conserve moisture and prevent weeds, give the tree a layer of mulch.

4. Pruning: This moderately spreading tree can be pruned to reduce size.

5. Pollination: The Dapple Dandy Pluot requires pollinators such as Flavor King, Santa Rosa Plum, Methley Plum, Burgundy Plum, or Late Santa Rosa Plum trees.
